Antique Charred Branch Candle Holder

About the Item

This antique charred wooden branch candle holder is recovered from an old fallen tree. It comes from an old traditional Japanese home with an Irori. An irori is a sunken fireplace in a center of a home. It is used to heat the home and for cooking. These iroris cause a natural charred finish to many of the surrounding household objects. It was created in the Meiji period in Japan (1886-1912). The natural curves and wrinkles of the wood are phenomenal.
