About the Item

An antique lacquered hard wood figure of a reclining immortal. He is resting on a basket and with a miniature fisherman presenting him a large fish. The figures are disproportionate to each other and the carver possibly is reflecting on the importance which the Immortal figure played in Chinese mythology. The figure is not apparently marked and is fitted with a later red felt base.
