Chinese Qing Sancai Glazed Immortal Figure

About the Item

A fine antique Chinese porcelain figure of Immortal decorated in sancai glazes dating from 19th century. The figure stands raised on a six-sided pedestal base and is dressed in loosely fitting trousers and robe tied around the waist with his long hair tied back with a ribbon. The figure rests leaning on a stick with one leg raised and resting against the stick. In his right hand he holds a small double gourd vessel. The base has six panels crisply molded with precious objects set within scroll patterning and is decorated in green glazes. The man is decorated in brown, yellow and green glazes with black painted facial features with his exposed body elements in white or natural glazes. The figure is not marked but is a fine quality example. Provenance: Acquired from the British Art Market. In good condition.
