About the Item
A Burmese Mandalay style gilt lacquered wood standing figure of Buddha and together with an unusual Burmese red lacquer covered baluster offering vase, early 20th century.
The Buddha standing in Samabhanga on a lotus base, left hand holding a section of his Sanghati falling in pleats around his body, his face with serene expression, his hair combed with curls rising into the ushnisha, measures 12 1/4" inches high x 4" inches wide x 2 1/2" inches deep.
The vase in red, green and black lacquer decorated with scrolls encircling roundels depicting a Hamsa bird on a black background, measures 12 3/4" inches high x 3 1/2" inches in diameter.
The right hand of the Buddha is missing, otherwise, both in good condition.
