About the Item

We will introduce very old Cambodian sculpture art. This was made as part of architectural sculptures such as temples. It is thought to be a Baphuon style sculpture made around the 11th century during the Angkor period. You can see that the man is kneeling with his hands together. The left side is a beautiful and magnificent relief sculpture that depicts a festoon. The deep and three-dimensional expression of this relief sculpture is a characteristic of this period. (Also, a similar sculpture was published in an art book, so I have included a photo of it as a reference.) The material is sandstone, which has fine grain and is smooth. It is thought to be part of a wall sculpture, but the shape of the person remains, and although the festoon has some cracks, I do not think it will peel off. Overall, it is in a beautiful state of preservation. It is sufficient for viewing. The black base is a wooden base. Two bolts are driven into the stone slab, and the bolts are inserted into this base. The stone slab and the base can be disassembled. This is a valuable item.
