About the Item
A beautiful and quite engaging original large mixed media wall sculpture by contemporary/modern internationally recognized Japanese artist/sculptor Minoru Ohira (born 1950 in Niigata, Japan) whose work includes sculpture, drawing, and design (While Ohira’s work is quite unique, he has strong conceptual ties to artists such as Isamu Noguchi, Emiko Tokushige, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Kimio Tsuchiya, and Martin Puryear). This piece is titled "Luna Y Sol (Sun and Moon) #7". It was created primarily with split wood and slate - a staple of Ohiro's creations.
The sculpture is signed and dated (1988) by the artist on the verso.
Provenance: from a prominent Southern California art collection that included many of the artist's pieces. .
Would be a great addition to any Japanese/Asian or Modern art collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork in about any setting.
