This is an antique correspondence box. An English, leather bound writing case, dating to he late Victorian period, circa 1890. Graced with a suite of features and appealing dark finish Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order Bound throughout in deep black leather with a lightly weathered appearance Brass fittings throughout present warm golden hues Recessed carry handle adorns the lid, personalised with the name Evelyn Dressed with a circular escutcheon and Bramah lock — untested, key absent Opening to reveal a storage tray, hosting the folio writing skiver The skiver in bright navy blue accentuated with gold tooling Deep purple leather to the reverse adds a touch of colour Retained by rotating clasps, a blotter opens outwards from the lid interior Lidded compartment conceals accessories and situates a charming ink well Maker's mark for the esteemed Edwards and Jones of Regent Street, London, purveyors of quality cases This is an appealing antique correspondence box with great dark tonality and a useful array of features. Presented with a quality Victorian finish, lightly worn commensurate with age. Delivered ready to enjoy.
