This is an antique officer’s campaign correspondence box. An English, flame mahogany and leather writing case, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. Delightfully attractive box, with fascinating secret drawers and quality finishes Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Select stocks show superior grain interest and rich russet and caramel hues Quality tooled and embossed leather skiver across two sections Brass shield to lid in unmarked condition, ideal for personalisation Case fascia finished with a brass shield lock escutcheon — in working order, key present Dressed with a pair of brass recessed cup handles in the campaign manner Useful side drawer held in place by a removable interior pin Suite of compartments to the interior for storage of papers, pens and other items Each half of the skiver lifts to gain access to a documents compartment Hidden panel to upper skiver box hides a pair of shallow drawers Replete with two screw-top ink wells, set neatly within a bank of compartments This is an exquisite antique officer’s campaign correspondence box using superb materials and of fine quality.
