This is an antique Campaign correspondence box. An Anglo-Indian, teak and brass bound Colonial traveller's writing case, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880.
Captivatingly appointed interior, set within a quality bound case
Displays a desirable aged patina, commensurate with careful use
Teak stocks present fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Flourishes of golden tones from the extensive brass bounding
Lid opens to reveal a fully-featured interior, replete with letter rack and compartments
Trio of articulated slides to centre create an inset platform, ahead of lift out trays
Dressed with a distinctive brass lock escutcheon — untested, key absent
Stout carry handles in the Campaign manner, with shaped drop handles on diamond mounts
This is a fascinating antique Campaign correspondence box, with a comprehensive fitted interior of surprise and delight features. As useful today as it was nearly 150 years ago and exuding decorative collector appeal. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready to enjoy.
