ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Height: 27 cm Width: 23 cm Depth: 9 cm Condition: Excellent Original Condition Circa: 1980 Materials: Pate de Verre Glass SKU: 6732 ABOUT Knights of the Round Table Sir Percival of Legend Saint Graal, one of the early mentions of Percival, written by Robert de Boron, talks about Percival as having a noble birth. But in many of the other stories, Percival comes from very humble beginnings. Sir Percival’s sister, Dindrane is talked about in many of the legends and is associated with the Holy Grail. In some stories she is the bearer of the Holy Grail. In a few instances, Percival is associated with being the son of King Pellinore, which would have made Percival the brother of Sir Aglovale, Sir Lamorak and Sir Dornar. In many of the medieval versions of the story, Sir Percival (or Parsifal) is very simple and almost foolish, but even in these versions of the story, he is pure enough of heart to ultimately become the keeper of the Grail. Chrétien de Troyes refers to Sir Percival as meeting the Fisher King and thus sees a “grail” – though it does not refer to this grail as the “Holy Grail”. But in his ignorance, he failed to ask the question of the Fisher King which would have healed him. Upon learning of his mistake with the Fisher King, Sir Percival vows to find the castle that houses the true Grail and then sets off on his Quest. But for the most part, the legend – at least Chrétien de Troyes’ version of it, ends here. Daum Glass Pâte de Verre is a rare and ancient glassmaking technique, which dates back to 5000 bc (pieces have been found in the tombs of pharaohs).in 1900 Daum rediscovered this technique that had been long forgotten, then further developed it in 1968. The process of melting glass coupled with the lost wax technique that Daum has developed, ensures a perfect reproduction of the original piece just as the artist had imagined it. today, Daum is the only glass maker in the world able to produce this exceptional material so perfectly. Pâte de Verre is a mutable substance, which has translated every whim of the imagination of the master glassmakers for over a century, in this way, no two pieces are identical, because the fragments of groisil blend and merge at will as the glass melts. This mastery and constant research have resulted in world renowned masterpieces.
