About the Item

This elegant mid-century plant stand was designed by Mathieu Matégot in the 1950s. Crafted in metal, it features three distinct pot holders, each fashioned from perforated sheet metal in vibrant primary colors — yellow, red, and blue. The stand’s slender white metal frame is both minimalist and playful, forming a tripod base that ensures balance and stability. The delicate mesh-like containers showcase Matégot’s signature technique of Rigitulle, a method he pioneered combining metal sheeting and wire. The asymmetrical arrangement of the pots adds a dynamic and sculptural quality, turning a functional plant stand into a decorative statement piece. Reflecting the post-war optimism of the era, this piece captures the joyful, modernist spirit of 1950s French design. Perfect for adding a touch of vintage charm to any interior, it remains a sought-after collector’s item today. Mathieu Matégot (1910–2001) was a Hungarian-born French designer celebrated for his innovative use of perforated metal and mid-century furniture designs, notably pioneering the Rigitulle technique in the 1950s. Good condition, some painting loss. More information Upon Request.
