About the Item

A Murano glass vase "Crepuscolo" by Ercole Barovier for Ferro Toso Barovier. The initial design dating to 1935-1936. Days of resource scarcity and economic struggle in which Barovier had the idea of using iron wool between the glass layers to get this archaic and slightly sinister effect for his production. A few scattered toolmarks at the upper rim even add to that appeal. It was approved by the padrone. Barovier even decided to sent a pair of these small vases to the 1939 Golden Gate international Exhibition in San Francisco. This is one of them, above the old Barovier label which is attached to the base, there is a US customs label for that 1939 world fair. The series is also described in Marina Barovier's "l'arte dei BAROVIER vetrai di murano 1866 - 1972" Klein, Barovier, Venezia, 1993, Arsenale editrice, page 128, N° 101.
