Ikora "Dexel-Ei", an ovoid shaped vase designed by Walter Dexel for the WMF
About the Item
The ovoid shape of this vase was designed in the 1930ties by Walter Dexel, who was related to artists form the Bauhaus in the 1920ties. The clear and elegant shape was then decorated by Karl WIedmann and his team in the former glass studio of the WMF with mottled glass granulate and oxides between the glass layers, This particular "Dexel Egg" has a nice and rather rare combination of orange and white powders. A similar execution is published in the book by Carlo Burschel + Heinz Scheiffele, WMF IKORA & MYRA GLASS, Arnoldsche, Stuttgart, 2003, on page 78.
