Jack-in-the-pulpit Vase Louis C. Tiffany New York Tiffany Studios 1906 Yellow
By Louis Comfort Tiffany
Located in Klosterneuburg, AT
Jack-in-the-pulpit vase designed by Louis C. Tiffany, manufactured by Tiffany Studios New York, 1906, signed The "Jack-in-the-pulpit" vases represent a special design category within the production of the Louis Comfort Tiffany company. These glasses were modeled after the Arisaema Triphyllum plant and are among the most iconic designs of this famous manufacturer. Our example shines in pure gold. It was made in 1906 and received as a wedding gift at the time. The vase is marked "L.C.T." and "2210A" (underneath). Material and technique: mouth-blown glass, reduced and iridescent Louis Comfort Tiffany (New York 1848 – 1933 New York) was a famous American designer, artist and painter of American Art Nouveau. He was best known for his works in glass colored with metal salts and made a name for himself in the decorative arts at the time. In the course of his career, he created a unique style that combined outstanding craftsmanship with a love for natural shapes and bright colors. Nature had always been his inspiration and in his designs he tried, in his very own way, to capture its beauty forever. Tiffany designed lamps...

Rude Osolnik Signed Mid-Century Modern Spalted Wood Turned Vessel Bud Weed Vase
By Rude Osolnik
Located in Studio City, CA
A beautifully executed, handmade, wood-turned weed vase by master woodturner Rude Osolnik who is widely regarded, along with Bob Stocksdale, as one of the finest woodturners in American woodturning history. In 1992, he was presented by then-Kentucky Governor Brereton Jones, with the Milner Award, the Governor's Award for Lifetime Achievement. The vase is made from spalted wood (hard to make out the exact wood on the base) and features highlighted wood grain and shades of dark and light areas. It is signed "Osolnik Originals" and "Spalted ...." by the Osolnik on the base. A gorgeous and engaging gem of a piece that clearly makes an impact. Would be a great addition to any Midcentury Modern or wood-turned collection or make for an eye-catching stand-alone work in about any setting, midcentury or otherwise. Osolnik's work can be found in such permanent collections as: The Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian The Boston Museum of Fine Arts Atlanta's High Museum The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago The Yale Museum The Speed Museum The Kentucky History Museum The Mayo Clinic...

Lee Levy Multi Spouted Vase, American Studio Pottery
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Vintage ceramic bud vase features sculptural multi spouted shape and stunning textured drip glaze in earthy, organic brown palette. The gradation glaze color and abstract graphic pattern of the main decor emphasize the soft, rounded shape of the vase; the use of shades of brown, from dark espresso to mocha to off-shite cappuccino, creates rich and varied, but monochromatic palette that does not overpower the complex form and shape of the vase. The vase is signed on the bottom with LEE, that was Lee Levy customary signature; it is not dated, but the style of the piece is consistent with her Mid-Century Modern pieces created in 1960s-1970s. Leah "Lee" Levy (1922 - 2011) was an established pottery artist based in Upstate New York area. She was born in Pinsk, formerly in Poland, now in Belarus, and moved to the United States in 1929, growing up in Brookline, Massachusetts. She and her husband Irving started their first pottery studio in Long Island, New York, in late 1940s, while training at the Alfred University School of Ceramics alongside with some of the foremost artists and craftsman in America. Since 1946, Alfred University in Alfred, New York was a home for School for American Craftsmen, with the faculty that included Edwin Blanchard Brown, Ernest Frank Brace, Laurits Eichner, Philip Morton, Charles Reese, Ethel Mitchell, Robert Savage, Thomas Mclure, and most importantly for Levy, the renowned ceramists Linn Phelan and Herbert Sanders...
