About the Item

Discover the artistic brilliance of Milan Vobruba through this captivating glass vase. The surface is richly textured, showcasing the artist's mastery. The middle and lower sections of the vase exhibit a delightful blend of metallic bubblegum pink hues, featuring a bubbly and occasionally striped pattern with a smooth surface. In contrast, the upper part of the vase boasts a pale yellow color, bubbly in nature, and characterized by a rough surface. A stunningly vibrant creation by Milan Vobruba, this vase originates from his Gusum Glass studios. Milan's unique Aleppo technique imparts an organic and often bubbly texture to the piece, adding an extra layer of charm and artistic allure. ABOUT THE ARTIST Milan Vobruba, born September 25, 1934 in Trebonice, died August 1, 2016 in Gusum was a Czech-Swedish glass artist. Vobruba studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and at the Faculty of Philosophy and History at Charles University in Prague. He also had a degree from the glass art industrial school in Železný Brod and studies with Richard Stipl and Stanislav Libenský. In 1968 he emigrated from Czechoslovakia to Sweden and since 1978 he has been active in his own glassworks in Gusum and invented, among other things, the Aleppo technique. Among his public works are the sculpture Copper's life in Gusum, sculpture at the play school in Valdemarsvik, relief in Valdemarsvik municipal hall, two windows to Valdemarsvik's church, the sculpture Tuturduver in Skärblacka, glass relief to King Faisal in Saudi Arabia, glass relief to Mutawa in Kuwait and a relief to the parliament building in Libya. Vobruba is represented at Norrköping Art Museum, Düsseldorf Museum, Trondheim Museum, Liberec Museum of Art and Industry, Rheinbach Glass Museum and Montreal Museum.

Scandinavian Modern Art Glass Vase by Börne Augustsson for Åseda
By Aseda
Located in Grythyttan, SE
Börne Augustsson's artistry shines through in this Swedish Modern glass vase created for Åseda Glassworks. Meticulously hand-blown, this Scandinavian Modern piece showcases Augustsson's organic design sensibilities. The vase features a striking violet, so dark that it appears to be black, casing beneath a transparent layer, with the latter expertly treated to create captivating organic pulled shapes. Notably, this vase bears an engraving underneath: "Fa W Johansson Orrefors 25." Despite this marking, it was indeed designed and crafted by Börne Augustsson for Åseda Glassworks.
