Scandinavian Modern Art Glass Vase by Börne Augustsson for Åseda

About the Item

Börne Augustsson's artistry shines through in this Swedish Modern glass vase created for Åseda Glassworks. Meticulously hand-blown, this Scandinavian Modern piece showcases Augustsson's organic design sensibilities. The vase features a striking violet, so dark that it appears to be black, casing beneath a transparent layer, with the latter expertly treated to create captivating organic pulled shapes. Notably, this vase bears an engraving underneath: "Fa W Johansson Orrefors 25." Despite this marking, it was indeed designed and crafted by Börne Augustsson for Åseda Glassworks. Walter Johansson gained notoriety for his somewhat questionable involvement in buying and selling glass from different Swedish glassworks. Residing in the Orrefors region, he labeled glass items as if they were manufactured by his own company in Orrefors. DIMENSIONS Height: 32,5 cm Width: 8,5 cm CONDITION About 4 very small scratches, see enlarged photos. ABOUT BÖRNE AUGUSTSSON Börne Augustsson, like his father, started working with glass at an early age. He was 11 years old when he started working at Sandvik glassworks. He then moved and worked for a short time at the glassworks in Åseda. Later he replaced his father as foreman at Sandvik's glassworks in 1948.
