About the Item

A richly detailed English porcelain compote by Thomas Dimmock & Co., dating to the early 19th century. This exceptional footed dish showcases the refined artistry of the Staffordshire potteries during the Regency period. Rendered in a striking Imari palette of deep cobalt blue, iron red, and touches of gilt, the compote features exuberant hand-painted florals and exotic foliage in the center, echoed along the flared rim. The wide, shallow bowl is mounted on a raised pedestal base, with delicately molded handles in a baroque leaf motif—highlighted in hand-applied gilding that has mellowed beautifully with age. The glaze has developed a fine network of craquelure, enhancing its authentic antique character. Stamped with an underglaze cobalt blue maker’s mark, this piece is an elegant testament to Dimmock & Co.'s craftsmanship and the enduring appeal of 19th-century English ceramics. Ideal as a centerpiece or a decorative accent, it would make a distinctive addition to any collection of antique Imari ware or English porcelain.
