About the Item

This is a good Desert Plate, hand painted in the rare and very decorative Gilded Leaves & Wheels pattern, produced by the Mason's factory at Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England, in the George 111rd period, circa 1813-1820. The plate is circular with a notched indented rim. This is a rare pattern and very decorative. This plate is hand decorated in one of Mason's rarely seen hand painted patterns, called "Gilded Leaves & Wheels". The pattern is boldly hand painted, over-glaze in many shades of burnt orange & cobalt blue , over an under-glaze printed outline. There is some hand gilded highlighting. This pattern is illustrated on page 139 of Mason's pattern book, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club The base is marked with the impressed single line mark; MASONS PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA, indicating an early date, circa 1818. Overall a good Mason's Ironstone Desert Plate in a rare pattern.
