About the Item

This is a very decorative ironstone large square serving dish complete with lid or cover, made by Mason's of Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England, during the early part of the 19th century, circa 1818. Both pieces are well potted. The dish is square with a notched rim. The cover has an oval shape with canted corners and a shaped knob handle to its top. The pattern is called " Chinese Blue Dragon " which is a detailed chinoiserie Mason's pattern, as illustrated on page 116 in The Mason's Collectors Club book " A Guide to Mason's patent Ironstone patterns, circa 1813-circa 1848" . The pattern is printed in different shades of cobalt blue Both the base and the lid are marked with the printed Mason's large crown marks and the impressed mark " Masons Patent Ironstone China", dating the pieces to circa 1818, the English, Late Georgian period. Overall a very beautiful piece of early Mason's, for display or use.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Overall Very good with NO Chips, NO Cracks and NO Restoration. Some kiln grit in the glaze on the underside of the dish. Please see images.
