About the Item
Depiction of dancer Ruth Saint Denis (1877/79 - 1968, actually Ruth Dennis, 'Miss Ruth') performing her dance 'Radha'- Dance of the Five Senses, first performed in 1906.
Dancer with her hair pinned up and adorned with pearl jewellery, her head gracefully inclined to one side, wearing a bustier and a long, wide skirt in beige and burgundy with abstract floral and leaf decoration, held around her hips with a triple belt, holding this on the sides with her raised hands, bell bands on her ankle cuffs, one leg placed a step forward, behind her two baskets filled with roses.
On a creamy white, trefoil-shaped, tiered base, with the signature ‘Rosé’ on the back.
This model was executed in faience and marble/alabaster.
Designed by Rosé - pseudonym - possibly Stanislaus Czapek
