Goldscheider Vienna stunning lady figurine: The Banjo Player. Designed by Stefan (= Stephen) Dakon (1904-1997). Stefan Dakon was a well-known Austrian sculptor and ceramics artist. He worked in close association with Josef LORENZL: Both artists produced many exciting bronze figurine sculptures of the Art Deco period. Their models were used among others by members of the association of bronze producers "Wiener Bronzen" ("Vienna Bronze"), as well as by the famous ceramics manufacturer Goldscheider from Vienna. Dalkon and Lorenzl designed models for the Austrian ceramics manufacturer Keramos, too. Model 5659 created by Dakon, circa 1927. made circa 1928-1930 model number 5659 / 54 / 8 Hallmarked: Goldscheider Wien / Made in Austria / Hand-Decorated painter's and modeller's signs existing at reverse side of base Subject: The Lady Banjo Player It is the Austrian actress and singer Zerline Balten playing the banjo. The handsome lady wearing cap is clad in interesting garments - a short brightly patterned bell-shaped dress with fur hems and collar. Additionally, a small Pierrot's figurine has taken place next to lady's feet (backside): The Pierrot child is playing cymbals. The figurines are attached to round two-tiered cream white base. Please note: The Austrian actress and singer Zerline Balten was member of the so-said "Stadttheater" (= town theatre) in Baden near Vienna. - Years active: In the twenties of the last century.
