About the Item

The conical shaped body rising to a tapering neck with broad vertical flutes beneath a flaring rim, the midsection featuring the etched Royal Cypher & Crown for King George V, (reign period 1910-1936), the underside decorated with star cut detail. Most likely manufactured by Royal Brierley Crystal (formerly Stevens & Williams) who in 1919 were awarded their 1st Royal Warrant as Glassmakers to the British Royal Family by King George V. A most handsome and truly unique piece of glass tableware in extremely good overall condition that would most certainly grace any table setting. Provenance: Previously the property of Mrs. Georgian Butler – Former Lady-in-Waiting at Rideau Hall - Residence of The Governor General of Canada. Mrs. Georgian Butler was the wife of Esmond Butler (1922-1989), former Assistant Press Secretary to HRH Queen Elizabeth II from 1957-59, and former 1st Secretary to the Governor General of Canada from 1959-1985, he was later appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth II in 1972, made Officer of the Order of Canada in 1986, and Canadian Ambassador to Morocco that same year.
