This is a pair of vintage podstakannik cups. A Russian, silver plated USSR tea glass holder, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1950.
Delightful tea glass holders with fascinating, space-related motif
Displaying a desirably aged patina and in good order
Silver plated glass holders present a bright polished appearance
Later glass tumblers in good order - can be replaced to individual taste with a maximum 60mm diameter glass (2.25")
Relief scene to front depicts Mother Russia reaching out to Sputnik, with the Kremlin in the background
Striking wheat sheaf relief detail issuing outwards from the central scene
Distinctive handles accentuated with chased foliate pattern
