About the Item

Vintage Murano vase in white Pulegoso glass by the Murano designer Napoleone Martinuzzi (1892-1977). Good condition except for a minor repaired chip. Ref. M. Heiremans, Art Glass from Murano 1910-1970, Arnoldsche 1993. p. 313 Active as sculptor in Rome at the beginning of 20th century, he comes back to Murano in 1925 to found the "Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Venini and Co." Company, along with the same Paolo Venini and Francesco Zecchin. In this Company he becomes Art Director. In 1932 he leaves Venini and founds the "Zecchin Martinuzzi" along with Francesco Zecchin. Between 1951 and 1952 he becomes designed for "Arte Vetro di Alberto Seguso" while between 1953 and 1958 he partners with Cedenese. Napoleone Martinuzzi is still considered one of the finest Murano glass designers of all times. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a license for export regardless of the work’s market price.
