About the Item

A fine antique topographical porcelain coffee or chocolate pot. By the Doccia porcelain manufactory circa 1820. With painted enamel topographical scenes: each side of the teapot depicting an unnamed harbor scene. Decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt borders in the Neoclassical taste. Reference: See the Victoria & Albert Museum Collection No. C. 18208A-1919 for a comparison (and an extensive note on Doccia topographical porcelains). Simply a wonderful & rare Doccia chocolate pot or coffee pot! Date: 1820 - 1830s Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is a re-glued crack to the handle. Otherwise, there are some fine and light surface scratches and other signs of light wear consistent with age. Maker: Doccia Marks: Marked to the base with a gold star and a twice impressed "X". Measurements: Height: ca. 7 1/4 in. Width: ca. 5 1/4 in. Depth: ca. 4 in.
