About the Item

A rare and beautifully crafted porcelain figurine by Eugène Marx Clauss, one of the most respected names in 19th-century French porcelain. Produced in the 1880s, this finely detailed piece exemplifies the exceptional artistry and refinement for which Clauss’s atelier was renowned. The figurine depicts a young woman in traditional attire holding a basket of delicately hand-modeled flowers. The piece is richly decorated in soft pastel glazes with intricate floral patterns, gold accents, and expressive hand-painted features. Her ruffled dress, floral apron, and elegant pose all reflect the high craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of the period. The base features a geometric border and bears the distinctive underglaze blue crossed swords mark used by the Clauss porcelain manufactory in France. Eugène Marx Clauss was a celebrated porcelain artist whose works are sought after by collectors and connoisseurs for their quality, elegance, and sculptural finesse. This figurine is a fine example of his atelier’s dedication to realism and detail. Dimensions: Height: 17 cm (6.7 inches) Condition: Good antique condition with light surface wear and natural signs of age, consistent with late 19th-century porcelain. Please refer to photographs for details. Provenance: Private French collection.
