Antique Porcelain MZ Austria Portrait or Cabinet Plate signed "Constance"
About the Item
This antique portrait plate was made by the MZ Austria porcelain factory in circa 1908 in the late Victorian style. The plate features a young blonde female in a provocative pose for the time period, signed "Constance" in the lower right. Surrounding the portrait is a gilded band accented with gold beading. The outer edges of the plate are hand painted with a series of well executed, large red and pink roses. The plate is clearly signed with the double headed "MZ Austria" back stamp that dates this piece to between the years of 1880-1908. This is an early example of the 'Constance' portrait plate series produced by his factory known for its fine porcelain, as the later renditions did not have hand painted flowers on the bordering surround.

A very fine antique Vienna style porcelain cabinet plate.
Entitled "Eingeheimer Auftrag", which translates in English as "A Secret Assignment".
Depicted in the central cartouche is an image of a young woman being attended to by a cherub/putti. The woman is seated at the edge of a garden and appears to be making a request of the cherub who is leisurely perched on the rail fence with a pensive look.
Signed to the lower right 'H. Zutzka'.
The rim of the bowl is richly decorated with two-toned raised gold decoration and gold jeweling on a light blue to turquoise ground.
