About the Item

An English porcelain potpourri vessel with gold gilt god-like heads and lion paw feet, Empire design, by Crown Derby, circa early-19th century, England. Red makers' mark date range circa 1806-1825. Markers' mark on bottom as shown in last image. Vessel has beautiful details from top to bottom as shown in images and video, consistent with European potpourri designs of the 1800s and earlier. Piece was made to hold potpourri (dried flowers and spices) to fragrance a room. Today, piece would make a great standalone decorative object, vessel to hold small items, or for potpourri minus the lid. Dimensions: 4.5" Diameter x 4" Height.

Wonderful Rare Matched Pair of Early English Regency Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Pot Pourri or Pastile Burners of traditional form. First quarter of the Nineteenth Century. Lavishly hand decorated in Imari palette with colours of Iron Red and Cobalt Blue with gilt on an off-white ground, each rim with four projecting Lion's heads ending on four paw feet on a shaped base. Condition: Superb condition for such early items, light wear to gilding at high points and some staining inside, evidence of gilt overpainting on one cover, see image.
