About the Item

This is a very beautiful porcelain coffee can made by a French Paris maker, dating to the early 19th century, circa 1810. The very fine Paris Porcelain coffee can, which is very well painted "en grisaille" with a harbour scene of two figures, with a thick gilt band to the handle, lip and foot. NOTES: Grisaille is French meaning 'greyed' , from gris 'grey' and refers to a painting style executed entirely in shades of grey or possibly brown. Overall a very distinctive, beautifully decorated coffee can.
