Meissen Gorgeous Rococo Series of Four Seasons' Figurines "Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter" designed by JOHANN CARL SCHÖHNHEIT (circa 1782) MARKS: MEISSEN CROSSED SWORD MARK OF MIDDLE OF 19TH CENTURY: made circa 1860 / 70 FIRST QUALITY 1) Spring | MODEL G 91 (former's number 65 / dimly remainders of painter's number existing) 2) Summer | MODEL G 92 (former's number 63 / painter's number 12) 3) Fall / Autumn | MODEL G 93 (former's number 143 / painter's number 10) 4) Winter | MODEL G 94 (former's number 125 / painter's number 55) DESIGNER: JOHANN CARL SCHÖHNHEIT (* 1730 Meissen - † 27.5.1805 Meissen/Germany) Schönheit started his career at Meissen Manufactory when he was eleven years old: He received first education as modeller's apprentice in year 1741 / finally, Schönheit got leading position at the latest in year 1768 when documents called him 'a leading member of the so-said White Corps'. - The designer and modeller had worked together with Kaendler for more than 20 years as well as collaborated with Acier when the latter had entered Meissen manufactory in year 1762 / Schönheit became first modeller of Meissen manufactory after Kaendler's death in year 1775. Schönheit retired in year 1794. SPECIFICATIONS: 1) Spring | MODEL G 91 -- the girl having sat down supports herself on a bird's cage having been laid on a tree's stump / additionally she holds a garland of flowers in her hands (a basket filled with flowers is visible on ground, it is situated next to the girl). The boy stands beside the gardener girl / he looks at a bird which sits in a bird's nest having been put on the cage. - Both children are dressed in rustic Rococo garments / the boy is barefooted, the girl wears buckled shoes. The figurines are attached to oval base imitating earth ground decorated at edge with frieze pattern. 2) Summer | MODEL G 92 -- the girl wearing feathered hat as well as flower's garland plays the lute / she stands beside the boy who has sat down on a bundle of grain ears (he holds a sickle in left hand). Both children are dressed in rustic Rococo garments / both wear buckled shoes. - The figurines are attached to oval base imitating earth ground decorated at edge with frieze pattern. 3) Fall / Autumn | MODEL G 93 -- the girl holds a garland of wine grapes in both hands, being situated on a billy goat which seems to be most interested in the wine grapes ... a boy standing beside her plays the flute. Additionally, a pumpkin lies on ground, next to the girl's feet. Both children are dressed in rustic Rococo garments / the boy is barefooted, the girl wears buckled shoes. - The figurines are attached to oval base imitating earth ground decorated at edge with frieze pattern. 4) Winter | MODEL G 94 -- the girl wearing headscarf is heating up her hands over a pot where coals seem to have been put into. A boy having sat down on a sledge (he wears a fur cap and a winter jacket) tries to warm himself up, too. Both children have been busy with cutting down trees (the boy still holds an axe). - The figurines are attached to oval base imitating snowy rocky ground decorated at edge with frieze pattern. AVERAGE SIZES: height: 5.51 - 6.10 inches width: 4.72 - 5.12 inches depth: 3.74 - 3.94 inches CONDITION: EXCELLENT (there aren't any damages existing) Some tiny restorations have been excellently done at a very few leave's petals (these restorations done in best manner aren't visible with naked eye).
