18th Century Meissen Figurines of the Four Seasons

About the Item

This pair of Meissen figurines depicts four infants, each representative of one of the Four Seasons. Autumn and summer are paired together, with Summer draped in a purple cloth, holding a bunch of grapes. Autumn rests with a bushel of wheat in the nook of their arm and ensconced in a blue cloth. The other pair of figurines is Spring and Winter. Spring sits above Winter, holding a bouquet of flowers and covered in a yellow cloth. Winter lies below spring, warming their hands over a cheery fire and clothed in a blue CAP and red robe trimmed in gold. The crossed swords mark indicating the pieces as Meissen is found under the base of the figurines.
