Prattware Glazed Pottery Cow Creamers with Calves, Yorkshire, England circa 1810

About

An unusual and scarce pair of Prattware cow and calf standing creamers, made in Yorkshire, England, circa 1810. The cows are uniquely glazed in black, enhanced with yellow patches. Each cow stands on a yellow and green base with their calves resting between their legs. A yellow and black striped tail, curled black horns, a plugged back and the naive modeling of the calf make this pair especially appealing. Brightly hand painted. Reference: "Prattware 1780-1840: English and Scottish Relief Decorated and Underglaze Earthenware" by John and Griselda - pg. 87. Measures: 7 in. L x 3 in. W x 5 in H Both figures are in incredible, antique condition. The usual fritting and wear is seen on the plugs.
