An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique George V English sterling silver paper knife/letter opener/bookmark; an addition to our silver flatware collection.
This exceptional and rare antique English sterling silver letter opener/bookmark has a plain tapering blade.
This antique paper knife is embellished with a cat shaped terminal embellished with engraved decoration reproducing the illustrative feline's features.
The surface of the blade is plain and unembellished, apart from the full hallmarks to the posterior surface.
This versatile and unusual letter opener could be used for a multitude of functions.
Condition
This antique paper knife is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition.
The piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
The engraved decoration is very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of the blade are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.

A fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver meat skewer/letter opener made by Mary Chawner; an addition to our diverse flatware collection.
This large antique Victorian sterling silver meat skewer/letter opener has a tapered form.
The surface of this skewer is embellished with a contemporary engraved initial ‘R’ below the plain circular ring loop finger piece.
The reverse surface is plain and unembellished apart from the featured hallmarks.
This fine example of antique silversmith was crafted by the renowned London female silversmith Mary Chawner.
The original use of this item was purely as a meat skewer. Due to its form, this piece may certainly be used as an effective letter opener.
