About the Item

An oversized mesh purse designed by Whiting & Davis Co. This is an amazing purse mesh bag created in America during the art-deco period, back in 1920 and 1925. This mesh bag has been crafted by the Whiting & Davis Co. with intricate details, with a mesh made up in .925/999 sterling silver, and yellow and rose gold of 14 karats. The mesh has been assembled creating a beautiful geometric x's patterns. It is embellished with one synthetic blue sapphire and fitted with a twelve inches chain. The frame is decorated with amazing engravings. Whiting & Davis Company This is a historical manufacturer of mesh handbags and jewelry, founded in 1876 as Wade Davis & Company. The company's roots trace back to a silversmith operation, evolving into a leading mesh handbag maker through automation and marketing. In 1896, Charles Whiting and Edward P. Davis partnered to purchase the company, officially renaming it Whiting & Davis. Country: United States. Period: Art Deco, 1920-1925. Material: Sterling silver, 14kt yellow gold & 14Kt rose gold. A beautiful colorful art deco box, created at the 33 East Kinney Street, in Newark New Jersey by the Wordley Allsopp & Bliss Company, back in the 1930. This rectangular box was carefully crafted in solid sterling silver .925/.999 with accents in 14 karats yellow gold. The complete outer parts are embellished with geometric patterns made up in green malachite and black lacquer. The inside are finished with high polish and gilding. Weight: 82.95 Grams, (53.17 Dwt).
