Brass & Stone Inlay by Justo "Coco" Castillo for Los Castillo, Mexico 1950's

About the Item

Introducing the exquisite Brass & Stone Inlay by Justo Lucio Castillo for Los Castillo, Mexico, a true testament to the artistry of 1960's design. This meticulously crafted set of tea, sugar and creamer pots is a striking addition to any discerning connoisseur's collection. Each piece showcases Coco's remarkable talent, seamlessly combining brass and stone inlay to create a mesmerizing visual harmony. The 3 pieces, tea pot , sugar and creamer, are made of brass, designed and crafted by Silversmith "Coco" Castillo. Justo Lucio Castillo whom after winning a design contest in 1932 by designing a bracelet which he named 'Pulsera de Cocos" he adopted the name "Coco Castillo". Justo and his brother, Don Antonio Castillo, both who were apprentices, designed and worked with William Spratling in the 1930's and started their own shop named Los Castillo in 1939. The exterior of the pieces is brass; the interior of each piece is silver in color. The handles are inlayed with what we believe to be malachite, turquoise and perhaps lapis lazuli. The teapot stands as the centerpiece, while the accompanying creamer adds a touch of elegance to any tea service. With their intricate details and timeless appeal, these signed treasures bring an air of sophistication to any formal furniture setting. Elevate your decor with the impeccable craftsmanship of this illustrious collaboration. Marked on the bottom of each piece is: Coco, Handwrought, Los Castillo, Taxco, Hecho En Mexico, 10.
