Tea Kettle by Dr. Christopher Dresser

$3,800Asking Price

About

Unusually geometric in form, this extraordinarily inventive copper and brass kettle looks like a Bauhaus thesis project from 1930 but was actually created in England in 1878 by the world's first industrial designer, proto-modernist Dr. Christopher Dresser (England, 1834 - 1904). The bottom of this forward-looking masterpiece is stamped with the maker's mark of Benham & Froud of London. LITERATURE: Christopher Dresser, Industrial Designer, by N. Pevsner, (Architectural Review, 1937), p. 184, illus.
