Christopher Dresser Henry Loveridge Copper & Brass Teaset

About the Item

A rare aesthetic movement three piece copper and brass teaset designed by Christopher Dresser for Henry Loveridge & Co in 1881. The set comprises of a teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl each copper bodied with hand planished patterning to the shoulders and applied with brass handles. The teapot is of squat round shape with a raised pouring spout and rattan cover brass handle. The teapot has a hinged cover which sits within a raised rim and has a raised wooden handle. The sugar bowl is of similar shape with brass handles applied either side. The jug has a matching shaped body with a narrow funnel shaped top and bird beak pouring spout with an attached flat top brass handle. All have a molded makers lozenge mark to the base including a registration mark dating the set from 1881. In good original condition with light wear associated with age and use.
