Found and Salvaged Industrial Steel Object Sculpture Figure with Face
By Jim Rose
Located in Chicago, IL
Jim Rose Standing found industrial objects 41h x 10w x 10d in 104.14h x 25.40w x 25.40d cm JR0355 Jim Rose b. 1966, d. 2023 Bio Born in Indiana, Jim Rose lived in Europe until he returned to the United States to attend college. After one year at Bard College, Jim transferred to the School of the Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC) where he graduated in 1988 with a BFA. His skillful interpretation of the Shaker design is a result of intense research and field study of Shaker furniture, architecture, culture and history. After over two decades of dedicated work, he has mastered the minimalism of the Shaker technique and created his own unique visual vernacular. The quilts of Gee's Bend have become a monumental influence taking this artist's work to new levels of unique interpretation and artistry. His selection of aged steel results in a patina directly related to that of aged wood while his colored strips beautifully mimic worn cloth. Each piece of furniture is masterfully made and intended for daily use. Jim Rose’s steel furniture is featured every year at SOFA Chicago for the past 25 years. Dancing Sculpture in Resin in the Style of Umberto Boccioni
Located in Pasadena, CA
Sculpture is at its most essential as a physical, tactile medium, and needs to be touched to be fully experienced. Creating a handmade resin sculpture is an intricate process that requires the mastery of various skills and techniques. This dancing sculpture, in gun metal patina finish resin, stands on its wooden base, featuring intricate details, height, singular twists, interstices, and curves, culminating in an energetic union that transforms the static and individual into a dynamic couple. As you let your hands wander, with closed eyes, you can sense fluidity in their movements, brought to life by soft, rounded lines. Every gesture and sweep emits a unique emotion, as if the two dancers were sharing a whispered conversation, inviting the viewer to witness their intimate exchange. By taking this sculpture home...

"Tanko" a Bronze Resting Cat by Barbara Beretich
By Barbara Beretich
Located in Palm Desert, CA
Entitled "Tanko", this is a beautiful and sleek bronze cat sculpture by Barbara Beretich(1936-2018). This lounging cat is displayed while grooming itself with its curvy tail wrapping around it's body and legs. Beretich's unique use of patina accentuates the subtle presentation of movement. We currently have 2 of these, same mold and patina. On a chair, sofa or on its own, this sculpture sits elegantly wherever it is placed. This is a lost wax cast and the piece is from her home gallery as seen in picture #6. During her younger years in California, Beretich's family raised multiple animals including hogs, cows, sheep and horses. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a BA in art. The following year Beretich spent time in Europe where she met and became lifelong friends with French artist, Francoise Gilot. Ater Europe, she moved to Claremont CA...

Mexican Folk Art Wood Carving Traditional Dance Handmade Alebrije One of a Kind
By Ruby Fabian, Manuel Cruz Prudencio
Located in Queretaro, Queretaro
The young dancers wear an armor of threads over their bodies, showing off an ancient indigenous art form. Colorful thread combinations characterize the huipil dress, a rectangle of cloth handwoven on a backstrap loom that dates back thousands of years in used in Zapotec culture. Through symbols in their dresses, Zapotec women wear their identity, history, culture, power, social and marital status, religion, personality, and power. In this folkloric dance, “Flor de Piña” (Pineapple Flower), innocence surrounds young girls as they dance and hold pineapples on their shoulders as an offering. Their long braids represent purity and their bare feet symbolize their connection to the Earth. This folkloric dance is part of the “Guelaguetza” (name in the indigenous Zapotec language) Festival Celebration. Since pre-hispanic times, the indigenous people of Oaxaca have honored the goddess of maize with this festival, performing and offering gifts to ensure a good harvest. Husband and wife, master woodcarver Manuel Cruz and wood painter...
