About the Item

Amazing wall lamp "Nausicaa 18" by Italian designer Massimo Giacon. Hand-crafted Murano glass lamp body in the shape of a vase. Manufactured in 1997 by Artemide, Milano/Venezia series. White painted metal backplate with two sockets - one for E14 and one for E27 (E26) size light bulb. Dimensions: height: 32 cm / 12.6 in; width: 18 cm / 7.08 in; depth: 16 cm / 6.3 in. The light fixture is in complete working order, but as with all vintage or antique lighting, we would always suggest it is tested and fitted by a qualified electrician. Italian designer Massimo Giacon was born in Padua, Italy, in 1961. Giacon is a multifaceted and multidisciplinary artist and his work can be found in a wide range of media, from comics to digital illustration as well as contemporary art and music publications. In the early 1980s, Massimo Giacon had an important role in the design of Italian comics. In the mid-1980s he started working as a designer for Matteo Thun, Studio Mendini, and Artemide. Giacon also designed tapestries, rugs, pottery, and kitchen items, produced illustrations for advertising, worked with designers and fashion magazines (Romeo Gigli, Elle, Glamour), and made preparations for international exhibitions and events for television. He teaches at the European Institute of Design in Milan. Currently, he is continuing the design and production of various objects for Alessi, drawing comics, continuing its activities with the music group The Blass, and performing artistic collaborations with various galleries.
