About the Item

Rare wall lamps designed by Bruno Gatta and manufactured by Stilnovo, Italy 1959. These lamps have a modernist shaped appearance with their white lacquered metal frame and opaline glass diffuser shade.  The diffuser is held by three metal pins which look very elegant. The lamps give of a beautiful soft light. Due to their minimalist design these lamps can fit anywhere and don't take much attention from their surroundings, but when you look closer the mastery of Gatta can be seen all around. Can be used as a hard wired lamp or plug in. Kindly note that the lamps are priced individually. The hanging version of this lamp is published in Domus 1955-1959 on a Stilnovo advertisement, page 515. Bruno Gatta was the director and head of design from Stilnovo almost during the entire period. He founded the Stilnovo publishing house in 1946 in Lainate, an industrial suburb of Milan. Despite its small scale, Stilnovo operated according to a true industrial logic from 1952-1955 – unlike other Italian brands, such as Arredoluce and O’Luce. Experimentation with new materials and shapes is at the heart of its production method. Until the second half of the 1960s, most of the designs were made by the company’s technical office, which was led by Bruno Gatta, then headed by Gaetano Scolari and bore the brand’s signature. Bruno Gatta died in 1976 in his birthplace Linate. Stilnovo is an renowned  Italian lighting company with a rich history and legacy. Founded in 1946, Stilnovo quickly established itself as a prominent player in the design and production of contemporary lighting fixtures. With a focus on innovative and modern designs, the company became synonymous with sleek aesthetics and cutting-edge craftsmanship. Stilnovo’s creations captured the spirit of post-war Italy’s design renaissance, blending functionality, artistic expression, and technological advancements. The company’s commitment to quality and attention to detail earned them a reputation for excellence in the industry. Collaborating with renowned designers and architects, Stilnovo produced a wide range of lighting fixtures, including floor lamps, chandeliers, pendant lights, and wall sconces. Their designs showcased a harmonious balance between form and function, utilising materials like metal, glass, and fabric to create captivating and contemporary lighting solutions These lamps are checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA.
