About the Item
The Acu Table Lamp stands as a testament to Higareda’s ceaseless exploration of Mexico's richly syncretic culture, born from a deep well of inspiration and innovation.
Drawing inspiration from the aesthetic overlap of Art Deco and Mesoamerican architecture, the lamp showcases angular forms and geometric motifs, reflecting a sense of order and balance.
This piece echoes the belief that structures such as the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacán served as sacred spaces where the sun was believed to reside or be honored ceremonially. These monumental pyramids were not merely architectural marvels but were imbued with spiritual significance, representing a connection between the earthly realm and the celestial sphere.
The lamp's scalloped, square column is almost architectural in nature, and is topped by a flat-topped pyramid crafted from Mexican Oak. Atop this base rests a radiant hand-hammered copper plate, gently cradling a frosted glass globe that evokes the setting sun.

By Higareda, Comité de Proyectos
Located in colima, MX
This unique case piece is inspired by the "Apsasû" representing the female counterpart of the majestic Assyrian "Lamassu", -- imposing winged-human-bull statues renowned for their protective duty. Crafted as an exclusive spin-off edition of the "Centinelas" collection, which delves in to the themes of care, safekeeping and protection as essential human endeavors for sustaining, perpetuating and restoring our world.
Our intention was to append this collection with our own fascination for comprehending the human experience, gender roles, and our historical context. Apsasu and Lamassu, revered as protective deities, embodied the essence of all life. They would appear to stand and walk, had human heads denoting intelligence, bull bodies...
