About the Item

The very old, if not original convex plate surrounded by an ebonized fillet, set within its exceptionally large & finely gilded wooden frame, featuring a cavetto-shaped molding decorated with beaded & ribbon shaped elements. Georgian period convex mirrors - also referred to as bulls-eye or butlers mirrors of such exceptionally large and fine proportions are extremely rare in the the marketplace. The diameter of the plate alone measures 27”, while the frame measures an extraordinary 39” in diameter x 4.25" deep. The highly impressive scale & sophisticated form of this fine mirror conveys a very strong statement, at the same time dramatically enhancing its surroundings, whether they be of a traditional, contemporary or modernist interior format. Possibly one of a kind, this exceptional example remains in fine overall condition, and is priced competitively in comparison to similar examples in the marketplace, which there are very few, if any.
