About the Item
A beautiful antique mirror that originates in France, circa 1890.
The mirror has the upper rounded corners typical for Louis Philippe mirrors. The mirror has a rich, ornamented crest with a central goblet with flowers flanked by acanthus and C-scrolls and decorated with floral garlands. The most elevated part of the frame is engraved with geometrical and floral motifs. The mirror frame is completely gold leaf gilt with a red bole undertone that shines through slightly. The mirror plate is the original plate and it has a silver nitrate silvering. The mirror plate is in very good condition and shows only a few hardly visible spots and scratches.
Condition details: The mirror is in good authentic condition. Both mirror plate and pine back cladding are original to the piece. The crest has an older restoration to the right side and the very top. This was done a few decades ago and it is a solid restoration that contributes to the antique look of the piece.
