This rare and remarkable piece begins with a backdrop composed of beautifully, handwritten love letters from the 1800s. There are three scrolls made up of additional love letters, sealed with red wax from the 19th century scattered around two antique books. The open book on the left, was written during the time of the 30 Year War, 1618-1648 in France, when the Treaty of Westphalia changed the map of Europe. During this period, the church attempted to begin marriage registrations and within this written relic, there are numerous marriage entries with names and dates. The book is bound by animal hide from the 12th-13th century and when it is unfolded, it becomes a giant piece of parchment filled with faded ink handwriting in mysterious Old French. The closed book on the right is from Louis XIII - XVI era and is bound in antique animal hide parchment from the 12th-13th century. When the animal hide is unfurled, the inside is adorned in faded handwritten ink in peculiar Old French. Inside the journal is elegante handwriting in ink but it is difficult to identify the cryptic content. This journal was possibly written by an unknown noble figure or bishop. Presenting A Very Important Teddy Roosevelt Letter from White House June 1907.
On ‘The White House’ letterhead. Typed and personally signed and amended by President Theodore Roosevelt.
With it’s original White House envelope, stamp and postage marks.
Dated June 14th 1907.
What makes this letter so important is the author, the office and the content.
It refers to the beliefs and opinions of the then President and First Lady (Edith) towards the women’s sufferage and empowerment movement that was the ‘hot topic’ of the time.
It is addressed to Eliza Calvert Obenchain who was a well known author at the end of the 19th Century and Early 20th Century. In 1905, Teddy referred to her book “Aunt Jane of Kentucky’ in a speech and recommended that every man in America should read it to understand ‘the plight of their womenfolk’. He regularly corresponded with her and we have a number of those letters in our collection. It appears that both he and Edith became big fans of Mrs Obenchain who was also heavily involved in the Suffragist movement.
The letters also provide a fascinating and historic record of Roosevelt’s personal beliefs and feelings on female empowerment.

But Aunt Jane is so good and so wise that she must not (amount “race (illegible)) fall into the terrible mistake of the self-indulgent, selfish, shortsighted women, cold in heart and in temper, who shirk the duties of mother-hood and then try to cover up to themselves and to others their cowardice or self-indulgence by making believe they are actuated by wise or lofty motives. *

Offered is an original 1847 ornamental map of the U.S. entitled "Ornamental Map of the United States & Mexico" by Humphrey Phelps. The map was issued as an act of Congress by Phelps on Fulton Street, New York. The broadside is elaborately hand-colored.
This is a very detailed and graphic propaganda map of the United States expressing U.S. dominance of the North American continent. The hand-colored map proclaims the Manifest Destiny, with the recent acquisition of Upper California and Texas at the conclusion of the Mexican-American War. The newly acquired land is boldly colored, standing in stark contrast to the rest of the U.S. The map details a potential route for a railroad running from New York City, to Buffalo, to Chicago, then west along the Oregon Trail to Oregon City. This route anticipates the construction of the transcontinental railroad by nearly 20 years.
The map includes elaborately detailed renderings of George Washington, Hernan Cortez, and Montezuma at top to represent European expansion to the Americas. At bottom are four inset designs with text showing the following: a chronological history of the U.S. beginning from settlement to the U.S. victory in the Mexican-American war; an illustration of General Zachary Taylor with details on the Oregon Territory; an illustration of the Aztec Temple of the Sun in Tenochtitlan and a chronology of the Conquest of the Aztec Empire under Cortez; a portrait of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna...

These Zeiss Binoculars were primarily used by Luftwaffe Flak Artillery ground crews for spotting and identifying enemy aircraft and directing the crew served Rangefinders, Searchlights and Flak Cannons of the Anti-Aircraft batteries based around many German and occupied ports, cities and industrial centres. Due to their superb optics they naturally also proved useful on the battlefield for tactical observation and from the outset of 1939 were used in many theatres of war by the German Army.
Presented here are a very high quality set of binoculars, manufactured by Zeiss bearing the marker of 'Jumelles 12 x 60' , indicating that they would have been made between 1942 and 1944 in occupied France. This set are unpolished in original dark grey with red stripe and are fitted to a polished cradle. They are fitted with adjustable and variable light shades (marked farbglasser) for use in all daytime and darker light conditions and have the later war style rain shield...
