Collection Of Twelve Hickory Putters

About the Item

Selection Of Vintage Hickory Golf Clubs, Putters. A wonderful selection of various hickory shafted putters. This is a great collection on its own or could even be the makings of an even bigger one. The list of the twelve putters is below. 1) Braid Mills aluminium head putter stamped on the crown 'STANDARD GOLF Co., MILLS 118064, PATENT, SUNDERLAND', underside stamped 'The Mills, Y Model, Medium Lie, 10 ozs 0 drs'. Polished leather grip. Slight crack to hosel. 2) Gibson oval shaped hosel produced by Gibson of Kinghorn. The club face has a triangular dot pattern; the head stamped with the signatures of Arthur Brown and Harry Vardon, together with the Gibson star cleekmark. Medium Lie with polished leather grip. 3) Brass head James B. Halley & Co. putter with steel face insert, 'crossed swords' cleek mark, base stamped 'RJW', polished leather grip. Shaft with a slight warp. 4) Arthur Brown and Harry Vardon style brass head putter with steel face insert, oval hosel, replaced suede grip. 5) Rivers-Zambra Approach Putter, 'The Scuffler' by the Stadium Golf Co. An unusual chipper with a unique head shape having a low profile blade with 25° lofted face, with the face, crown, back and sole all being flat. The face with square dot punched markings. The club head stamped with the 'anchor' mark of the Stadium Golf Co., London. Polished leather grip, slightly loose. 6) Robert Forgan 'Offset' putter, head stamped with 'Flag' cleek mark. Club fitted with hickory shaft terminating in a square handle with polished leather grip, slightly loose. 7) Smooth faced gun metal, brass, head putter with flanged sole. Maker unknown, grip slightly loose. 8) The famous offset 'Gruvsol' Benny putter made by Ben Sayers, North Berwick. The club with original square hickory shaft stamped 'B. SAYERS', it is an unusual shaft with the bottom half being round and then terminating into a square shape up to and including the handle, gripped with a polished leather grip. The head is offset with line face markings and with a grooved or ribbed sole. The rear of the club head is stamped with Ben Sayers 'Robin' cleek mark, GRUVSOL, RUSTLESS, Reg No. 719856, Hand Forged in Scotland, Ben Sayers, North Berwick, BENNY PUTTER'. The shaft with whipped repair. 9) James Spence offset 'Giraffe' Putter, with extra long hosel and stamped with a 'Flag' cleek mark, Edwin Marsh, Cleveleys Hydro GC. Later suede grip. 10) J. H. Taylor "Autograph" Accuratt putter stamped 'Cann & Taylor, Warranted Hand Forged, J. H. Taylor "Autograph", Re.No. 303868/08, Iron' and the Cann & Taylor 'Fliweel' cleek mark. In good original condition with hickory shaft stamped 'Cann & Taylor' with 'J. H. Taylor' autograph and suede grip. 11) Early vintage smooth face, offset putter. Hickory shaft with polished leather grip and whipped repair. 12) The 'BAMFE' Mitre Brand putter, made in Scotland, Jack Hickman, Thanet Golf Club. Club head is marked with the 'Bishop's Mitre' cleek mark of Hendry and Bishop. Dimensions: Height 88 cm / 34 3⁄4" Width 12 cm / 4 3⁄4" Depth 4 cm / 1 3⁄4"
