The wooden structure is entirely lacquered in shades of sugar paper blue with reserves and golden frames. The cabinets feature a lacquered wooden top in faux alabaster marble in bloom, of mixed and moved foma and edged by carved and gilded frame. On the front, they are accompanied by a drawer with a grip in gilded wood carved in shell shape. Below a door, which closes a large compartment, opens through a bronze handle with lock. This pair of corner cabinets was made in Piedmont, Italy, around the middle of the eighteenth century according to the taste of the baroque.
The structure is in poplar wood, lacquered and decorated on the front side. The central body consists of an open door that conceals a compartment with two shelves. Above, a mixed cymatium crowns the piece of furniture and consists of two small tops bordered with gold leaf on red bole. Equally finished in gold are reserves and frames that decorate the furniture highlighting the various parts of which it is composed. Below the door, a open compartment is presented by a quadrilobate profile. The piece of furniture is decorated with floral ornaments and polychrome chinoiserie designs partly in relief thanks to the application of cast plaster. Inside the side frames are depicted characters dressed in oriental with floral decorations typical of fashion in chinoiserie. This lovely set of 18th century country house type dining chairs are a purists dream. They retain a wonderful colour and surface to the walnut timbers and have clearly been well loved and looked after throughout their lives.
Stylistically they have a slighty more formal feel to them than many sets of country dining chairs, although there is no doubt whatsoever that they retain that sought after english country furniture charm.
The seat upholstery is in reasonable condition, more than acceptable for something that we would imagine has been in place for around 50 or 60 years perhaps. There are however a few old marks, scuffs and minor stains to the upholstery, so the ease and relative inexpense of reupholstering 6 drop in seats is another added plus point.
