Late 19th Century American Hooked Rug from the Estate of Bunny Mellon

About

We have presented and sold a similar English hooked rug from Mrs Mellon s estate last year (reference # LU81132751952). This rug found with the binding still unfinished but ready to complete has been finished professionally. American and made circa 1880 to 1900 the colors are bright and well chosen. As with all Mrs Mellon's things they relate to flowers and growing things a passion dear to her heart. The rug while not huge is large for this type and is nicely populated with many kinds of flowers and leaves forming a large oval medallion on a clean unadorned field that is then encircled by bold colored and shaped leafy framework. The binding is what she selected and started herself.
