French 19th Century Tole Sinumbra or Carcel Lamp from the Estate of Bunny Mellon

About the Item

This very nice carcel lamp now converted to electricity comes from the estate and Paul and Bunny Mellon and formed part of the decorations of their home Oak Springs Farm. The lamp, once illuminated by a burner which has been replaced with a two-light cluster and will require a shade. Made of tin and gilded bronze the lamp is in very good shape and comes from France circa 1820. Designed as a reeded shaped baluster column the deep green tole paint is original with some wear to the surface but in overall great shape and the lamp has new French silk-wrapped wiring and the sockets have been refitted with new mechanicals without replacing the old exterior parts.
