About the Item

Kilims are the most typical products of the nomads. Light but warm, they have a flat structure and the decoration comes from a combination of weft and warp. The Konya kilims are woven in the area of the city of Konya, located on the Anatolian plateau south of Ankara, which is said to date back to the third millennium A.C. The flamed decoration refers to one of the oldest motifs of the carpets in this area. The wools are colored with pigments extracted from products found locally and their brilliance is characteristic.
