Antique Turkish Anatolian Kirshehir Rug Circa 1900
About the Item
The magenta mihrab with carnation-filled paled yellow center surrounded with a wide border and two guard borders, this turn of a century prayer rug represent an exceptional example of Anatolian woven art. The great richness of coloring and noticeable absence of a lamp or ewer indicate that the weaver artist who created this rug did not want to have anything that might alter the purity of the mehrab.
Overall condition of this prayer rug is great, there are masterful reweaves on both ends to protect the integrity of the rug and sidings are all original.
